Our Needs

Below is a list of our current needs - some are immediate and ongoing, while others we recognize are significant in cost and will take time.

Other Ways to Donate & Get Involved

SPONSORSHIP: One of the best ways we can ensure our children have the materials they need for school, clothing, and general living essentials is through sponsorship of a monthly donation. For more information, click the “Get Involved - Sponsorship” tab.

DONATION: Undesignated donations allow our team to fulfill the immediate needs of the home, which can range from general maintenance, health costs for our children, agricultural development, etc. To make a donation, click the “Donate” button.

VOLUNTEER: We would love to have you visit us in Ghana! You’ll work hard alongside our staff and children, learn about the Ghanaian culture, and make lasting memories! Most of our volunteers love it so much they come back! To get more information, click the “Get Involved - Visit Us!” tab.

Dormitory Bunkbeds

Need: 50
Total Cost: USD ~ $4,700

These beds will be placed in the dormitory for the children to sleep. We currently have girls’ and boys’ dormitories for the over 55 children who live at the VIMA Children’s Home. Our previous birds are old and worn out.

Children’s Mattresses

Need: 45
Total Cost: USD ~ $4,500

A comfortable mattress for each of our children. A place to lay after a long day of learning and fun.

Older Children’s Mattresses

Need: 30
Total Cost: USD ~ $3,600

The density of these mattresses is made to withstand the weight of our older children.

First Aid Clinic

Need: 1
Total Cost: USD ~ $8,500

With the nearest medical clinic several hours away, this First Aid Clinic would provide a place for the village and VIMA Children’s Home to receive medical aid and wellness checks when traveling medical personnel visit our remote location.

Food Storage House (BUILT)

Need: 1
Total Cost: USD ~ $2,500

This building will allow us to store and preserve crops from our agricultural efforts and to stock more food inventory, which will help us to save on food expenses.

Gas Stove (PURCHASED)

Need: 1

A gas stove will give VIMA Children’s Home the opportunity to bake our own bread, a staple for our meals and allow for preparing many other delicious meals!

4WD Toyota Pickup Truck (Donated)

Need: 1
Total Cost: USD ~ $25,500

One of our highest needs, this all-terrain vehicle will allow us to navigate the rural roads in case of emergencies, special needs, and transporting large items.

Tri-Cycle Bike

Need: 1

This motorcycle will be used on our farming project - which will help us to grow our own food

32-Seater Toyota Coaster Bus

Need: 1

We have a dream to one day be able to take our children on fields trip to explore outside their community and see what the world has to offer! This bus would allow us to provide a variety of opportunities to VIMA kids!

Grass & Trees on Campus (80% completed)

Grass & Trees will provide shade and place for our children to play and enjoy the VIMA Children’s Home.

Dormitory Ceiling Installation

Guest House Furnishings (Partly Furnished)

Need: Four Rooms and a Hall need furnishing

We have a simple building for our Volunteers to stay in during their time with VIMA, however we hope to make it comfortable with appropriate décor, furniture, and tiling.

Campus Outdoor Lighting

Need: 20 (8 PURCHASED)
Total Cost: ~ $2,500

These streetlights will light our pathways around the campus. we have 48 acres of land, so we need plenty of lightning to keep the environment around our kids safe.

Diesel Electric Generator (Donated)

Need: 1

The generator will allow our students staff to continues their studies/work when the power goes off at the orphanage (due to weather or power unpredictability).

Toilet Facility, Boys & Girls (Donated)

Need: 2
Total Cost: ~ $2,500

Modern day plumbing is not a given in our remote location, a toilet facility will allow us to properly dispose of waste and give the children a place for privacy.
