VIMA Orphanage is located in the Volta Region of Ghana, specifically in the village of Gbedome, in the Ho West Municipal District. About a 3 hour drive from the airport in the nation’s capital, Accra.

VIMA has two locations, our main campus at Gbedome , and also our transitional home at Amedzofe called VIMA Home Annex. 118 beneficiary children in the Volta Region of Ghana are in our network receiving all forms of assistance, ALL are receiving full time education assistance at all times.

Education is a priority for all our children. Evaluating and admitting new orphans and needy children into the orphanage is an ongoing process, depending on the severity of the child’s situation, we may choose to place the child with a willing relative or caretaker family, however extreme cases are immediately brought to our orphanage. It’s therefore difficult to give a fixed number, however at any given time, the orphanage is operating at about 55 minimum children.

Yes, there are some children who are not orphans, however due to the financial situation with their parents, some of whom are disabled, incapacitated or simply unable to care for their many children, VIMA does assist to care for these children as well, because we believe every living child deserves love, affection and access to basic education regardless of their situation.

Absolutely not! The Board Members and the founder generously give of their time and expertise at no cost to VIMA. We are so grateful for their work!

Your sponsorship is changing the life of a student in Ghana. Because of your support, the student you sponsor will receive an education, school uniform and materials, and medical assistance. In addition, our newly commissioned Hazel Library with computers and internet enables our children to send letters to their sponsors at a faster and more reliable way.

Our biggest expenses are food for the children and paying the few staff members that are responsible for the daily operation of the orphanage. The percentage of donations that directly reach our children is in the high ninety percentile. The orphanage runs a lean but efficient staff in our effort to ensure that 95% of all your donation directly benefits the children we serve!

Yes! We love when our donors want to get more involved by making a specific donation! You may choose to sponsor one of our children on a monthly basis at $55, or you are welcome to see the list of needs on our website and determine where you want to focus your donation. Yes, VIMA is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization registered in the United States of America. All Your donations are also tax deductible and VIMA will always send you a receipt for your donation. Across all of our missions, an average of 95% of our expenditures fund the ongoing programs that directly benefit students, families, and communities in Ghana.
