Hello! My name is Steve Portz, I am a doctor in Las Vegas, Nevada and I have been involved with the VIMA Children’s Home since 2019. I wanted to share my experience as a Child Sponsor and what a cool opportunity it has been for me to get to personally know a wonderful child thousands miles away at VIMA!

My name is Ellie, I am 18 years-old and have visited the V.I.M.A. Orphanage in Ghana twice. My first trip was in the spring of 2019; as soon as I arrived, the kids swarmed the other volunteers and me. The rush of excitement and shower of love I was welcomed with had immediately made feel at home.

This is such an exciting time for the children of VIMA, and people of all ages in our surrounding villages! HAZEL’S COMMUNITY LIBRARY was dedicated in January 2022. The building will serve as a place for learning and gathering. With its doors open and bookshelves loaded with hundreds of books, the library being utilized every single day of the week!

Hi! I am Susie, but at VIMA Children’s Home I am known as “Mama Susie”! I want to give you a glimpse into a day in the life of a VIMA volunteer and I hope that it will fire you up to make a visit to Ghana and spend time with the beautiful children at the orphanage. The work can be tough as a volunteer, but it is some of the most rewarding work I have ever done.
